  • YES!

Acupuncture is officialy recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO). The WHO published an official report listing 31 symptoms, conditions and diseases that have been shown in controlled trials to be treated effectively by acupuncture.

  • Each treatment is highly personalized to each patient, being the result of an individual diagnostic accordingly to the reason of your visit and your symptoms.

On your first session, we’ll complete together a comprehensive health history that provides me with a picture of where you’re coming from, through the lens of Chinese medicine. We will discuss your physical and emotional state. I am going to look at your tongue and take your pulse for the best diagnostic and if necessary palpate and look at your body within a climate of respect and care.

Afterwards I will establish a treatment plan and have you lay down on the treatment table. Depending on the customary plan you wi l be position ed facing up or down and the insertion of acupuncTure needles will follow.

The duration of a treatment does not determine its quality but will depend on your current level of energy, constitution and age. It can last from 20 to 60 minutes. Many people find this to be very relaxing and meditate or nap, although it’s also common to feel energized or notice different sensations, energies, or waves of temperature change throughout your body. After you have rested, I will remove the needles, and may do moxibustion, gua sha, and/or cupping at that time, or apply ear seeds.

  • It is important that you don’t arrive at your appointment on an empty stomach. Make sure to have had something to eat at least within the 2 hours before your session and preferably avoid coffee before your treatment.

Wearing loose clothing is recommended for your own comfort, but it will also enable your practitioner to access your arms and legs. Clean towels and sheets are also at your disposal to cover yourself if needed.

Make sure to use the bathroom before coming to your appointment.

Treatment can not occur if the patient is under the influence of drugs or alcool.

The Principles of TCM

  • In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), it is considered and understood, after thousand of years of observations and research, that the the body is crossed by a meridian system also called channel network.

The meridians are pathways in which the life-energy, known as "qi" (ch'i), flows through out the body

  • There are 12 main meridians, which are each associated to our 12 vital organs

Heart merdian, Lung meridian, Liver meridian, Spleen meridian, Stomach meridian, Bladder meridian, Kidney meridian etc…

There are also a whole network of other meridians connecting the surface of our body to the limbs and internal part.

  • When an imbalance happens on one of the meridian (such as Qi blocage -Qi deficiency, etc…) then associated symptoms on the body will occur.

That’s where TCM gets really interesting.

Instead of trying to hide the symptoms with pain killers, we are going to try to understand where the imbalance in your body has occured, and address the root of it rather the symptoms itself.

  • The needle are inserted on specific points along the meridians on your body. Each point as a specific action on the Qi and body.

Your practitioner will have methodically chosen each points accordingly to your personalize diagnosis in order to stimulate, tonify and allow the movement of Qi and Blood.

The needles used in acupuncture are much thiner than needles used in he regular health care system that you know (vaccine, blood test, IV etc…).

Most insertion are painless and most people describe the experience as very relaxing and calming.

  • Chinese medicine excels at addressing the root causes of illness, uncovering why it even arises in the first place, and restoring and preserving a vibrant state in a gentle but effective way via acupuncture, herbal medicine, cupping, moxibustion, and more.

Clinical research shows that acupuncture is anti-inflammatory, lowers blood sugar, lowers blood pressure, increases circulation of blood and lymph, increases endorphins and opioids (natural pain killers), and prevents the chemicals that signal pain from even being formed. It also changes our brainwaves and nervous system state to those associated with self-repair.

While some of my patients are dealing with the symptoms of disease processes that have been formally diagnosed, many also are seeking safe, non-invasive treatment to improve their overall health and quality of life. They come in for support with things like insomnia, headaches, fatigue, fertility and perinatal support, anxiety depression, athletic injuries and recovery, seasonal allergies, and, this being New York, the physical and emotional effects of stress.

This medicine is highly personalized — what is helpful for one person may not support another at all, because our constitutions and the life experiences that have shaped our bodies and health are all unique. Because Chinese medicine is so tailored, safe, and minimally invasive, it is beneficial for people of all ages and almost all health situations.

A long history of clinical experience, followed by a growing body of modern clinical research, has proven that acupuncture and other modalities of Chinese medicine are as or more effective than conventional Western-style treatment for a long, diverse list of health conditions.

Facial Acupuncture

An ancient traditional method to naturally help make the skin look younger, smoother, and all-around healthier.

Facial acupuncture, also know as cosmetic acupuncture, is a natural and rejuvenating procedure designed to reduce the signs of aging. It stimulates the production of collagen, helps improve elasticity, minimizing fine lines and wrinkles.

The science behind facial acupuncture

25 to 60 thin painless needles will be inserted into the face. These punctures stimulate your lymphatic and circulatory systems, which work together to deliver nutrients and oxygen to your skin cells, nourishing skin from the inside out. This helps your complexion and promotes your skin’s glow.

As the needles puncture the skin, they create wounds within its threshold called positive microtraumas. When your body senses these wounds, it goes into repair mode. This is the same idea microneedling uses to get bright, anti-aging results — except acupuncture is a bit less intense, averaging about 50 punctures while microneedling applies hundreds of pricks through a rolling device. A body acupuncture treatment will also be applied to prevent energy congestion in the face and create a harmonious full-body treatment.

Why choose cosmetic acupuncture

Unlike injection procedures, facial acupuncture addresses not only signs of aging but also the skin’s overall health. It is widely considered a painless and non-surgical alternative to surgery. It includes the insertion of incredibly fine needles target problem areas of aging skin, wrinkles, discoloration, and puffiness.

Cosmetic acupuncture also firms weakened facial muscles and improves circulation, for the patient to feel energized and radiant. It works internally to optimize your health while simultaneously enhancing the appearance of your skin

What happens during a session

  • A session last 1h. I will first ask a few question about your general health, take your pulse and look at your tong. you will then lay on the massage table on your back.

  • Cleaning of the face - Ridoki massage of the face - to stimulates, firms and reactivates blood circulation and thus boosts the synthesis of collagen and elastin, while stimulating certain important energy points. Face Gua Sha - on a well moisturized skin, this process helps blood flow and create a “lifting” effect on your skin, lessen toxins in your face and promote healing.

  • After the preparation phase, we’ll start the acupuncture protocol. Several very small thin needles are placed in specific locations across the face. the treatment varies and is tailored depending on what was discussed at the beginning of the session (general energetic state of the patient, the state of the skin, sign of aging and appearing wrinkles). Once the needle in place you will then rest for 15 to 20 min.

  • Every needle is removed from the face (magrains can be placed and kept up to 12h after the treatment). A last cleaning of the face before applying a home made organic essential oil blend to jojoba oil on the face to close the session.
